Launched in January 2007 after months of rumour and speculation, the iPhone was the first of its kind using a multi-touch screen and virtual keyboard and number pad instead of having actual keys. The most recent release is the iPhone 4, described as a slate smartphone. This version of the iPhone was released in June 2010.

The iPhone runs Apple's iOS operating system , controlled by a user's fingertips on the multi touch display which is sensitive to fingertip contact. The new design incorporates an uninsulated stainless steel frame which acts as the antenna for the device.

If you are looking to buy an iPhone, go to any of the mobile phone shops on the High Street or electrical stores, or try to find a good bargain online. Bear in mind that this is the current model and demand is high so prices will not be cheap and you may have to pre-order.
